This weekend in Baku, there will be more than just the Grand Prix making headlines. Just before the finish line, Azerbaijan Airlines and Boeing established a partnership, as the Formula One world gets ready for a race this Sunday that will be full of excitement!

There are already two 787-8s in the fleet of Azerbaijan Airlines. Both of these were shipped in December 2014. Shusha is the nickname given to registration VP-BBR, while Ordubad is the moniker given to VP-BBS. Eight more units are anticipated to join the duo. The management of the Baku Heydar Aliyev International airline met with the leadership of Boeing to share the exciting order. These Dreamliners will be put to good use across the operator’s network, flying to 40 destinations in 25 nations. strong connection

The following information regarding the order was provided by Jahangir Asgarov, president of Azerbaijan Airlines, in a corporate statement:

“The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev,’s ongoing support and attention have made it possible for the nation’s civil aviation to expand successfully. Modernizing the fleet and raising the standard of AZAL air transportation will be aided by the signing of a contract with Boeing for the purchase of contemporary wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ president and chief executive, Stan Deal, continued:

The 787’s versatility and competence have enabled Azerbaijan Airlines establish itself as the top carrier in Central Asia, opening up new opportunities for the country’s tourism and economic development. We have had a fantastic connection with Azerbaijan Airlines for more than 20 years, and this order for Dreamliners is evidence of the strength of our product family and our business partnership.Within the fleet

In the statement this week, the carrier and airline did provide an update on the delivery timetable. However, the first four were scheduled to be delivered between 2025 and 2030 in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last summer. We can envision that all eight would show up at the same moment.

The latest notification comes after the FAA gave the go-ahead to resume 787 deliveries last month. Despite the fact that deliveries had resumed in August of last year, they were stopped in February due to a problem with the aircraft’s fuselage parts. Notably, while checking the certification records, a problem with the plane’s forward pressure bulkhead was discovered.17 787s have been delivered to airlines since March, reports Planespotters.net. American Airlines acquired one 787-8, while ZIPAIR Tokyo received two.

Over the past week, the 787s of Azerbaijan Airlines have been busy flying to cities like Istanbul, London, Dubai, and Jeddah. In the widebody sector, they are supported by the Boeing 777, Boeing 787, and Airbus A340 aircraft. The 757, A319, and A320 jets are also carried by the carrier.

Azerbaijan Airlines is demonstrating its commitment to updating its fleet. After all, it had earlier this month announced an order for six Airbus A320neos and six A321neos.

Nearly ten years have passed since the airline first began operating the Dreamliner. With this commitment for eight further units nine years later, the type has clearly made an impression.
