Bangkok Drug Network Dismantled in Major Police Operation
BANGKOK — A major drug distribution network operating in Bangkok’s nightlife scene was dismantled following a successful police raid in the early hours of May 9, resulting in the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of a large cache of narcotics.
Led by Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, officers apprehended:
- Wongsakorn (37) – charged with distributing methamphetamine for commercial gain.
- Atcharaphat (32), Nutthicha (21), and Sunisa (27) – charged with possession and distribution of various narcotics, including methamphetamine, ketamine, ecstasy, and prohibited e-cigarettes.
Items Seized:
- 161.18g of methamphetamine
- 68.16g of ketamine
- 211 ecstasy tablets
- Drug paraphernalia and illegal vape equipment
The raid began with a sting operation at a resort in Wang Thonglang district and culminated in a search of a condominium in Bang Kapi’s Rama IX area.
Key Findings:
- The suspects infused drugs into e-cigarettes and packaged ecstasy in cartoon-themed tablets to appeal to young clubgoers.
- Branded ecstasy included names like Luffy Purple, Royal Molly, and Trump Green, with packaging mimicking snack wrappers to avoid suspicion.
Authorities say the operation was strategically targeted to curb drug trafficking in Bangkok’s entertainment venues, where disguised narcotics have become an increasing concern.
