Bangkok is the first international destination offered by Malaysia’s MYAirline.

The Malaysian low-cost airline will begin offering service to both of Bangkok’s international airports on July 1.The newest airline out of Malaysia, MYAirline, has revealed its first foreign location. The airline will start operating daily flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) from its hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as of June 28.

The low-cost carrier also has further plans. It will be the first Malaysian airline to operate to both of the international airports in the Thai capital when it begins daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) on July 1st, just a few days later. Later in the summer, MYAirline intends to double both routes’ daily frequency.

Rayner Teo, the CEO of MYAirline, expressed his excitement for the news by saying,

“We are thrilled to announce our first foreign destination, which has been in the works for several months. Travelers from Malaysia frequently choose Bangkok as their destination because it has so much to offer, from its crowded streets and delectable cuisine to its cultural landmarks and nightlife. We’re thrilled to offer passengers a more dependable, practical, and economical travel choice. We are also thrilled to provide Malaysians flying on MYAirline for the past six months with the same experience when they depart from Thailand as tourists or business travelers.

According to information from ch-aviation.com, the airline now has seven Airbus A320 aircraft in its fleet, all of which are used for flight operations. In an all-economy configuration, each aircraft can accommodate a maximum of 180 passengers. MYAirline began operations in December 2022, and as of right now, it offers flights from Kuala Lumpur to eight domestic locations, including Penang (PEN), Kuching (KIA), and Kota Kinabalu (BKI). Although no new destinations have been revealed, the airline has claimed that it plans to grow its network of foreign routes throughout 2023.

Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur compete fiercely with one another.

The Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok route is currently serviced by a total of five airlines:

Malaysia Airlines, Thai AirAsia, and Thai Airways fly from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.

AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia, and Thai AirAsia offer flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok Don Mueang.

MYAirline is offering special promotional rates with prices starting at MYR 99 ($22) in an effort to carve out a niche for itself in a very congested industry.
