Bangkok Motorcycle Repairman Fatally Shot in Pawn Dispute; One Injured

BANGKOK — A 28-year-old motorcycle repairman was shot dead and another man injured in a violent confrontation that erupted over a motorcycle pawn dispute in the early hours of May 9 on Soi Phatthanakan 32, Suan Luang district.

Police arrived at the scene around 1 a.m., finding Sugiphlee Mage with five gunshot wounds — to the head, body, and ankle — lying on the floor of his repair shop. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His relative, Adun Mage, 33, sustained a graze wound to the neck and was taken to Vibhavadi Hospital for treatment.

Authorities recovered five .32 caliber shell casings in front of the shop. Preliminary investigation suggests the incident stemmed from a conflict over a pawned motorcycle.

According to witnesses, tensions flared around 9 p.m. on May 8, when a group of over 10 individuals arrived on multiple motorcycles. The group, reportedly from the Ramkhamhaeng area, had a prior dispute with Adun. Sugiphlee intervened to mediate, but the discussion ended in threats, and the group left vowing to return. Sugiphlee, sensing danger, contacted a friend to express concern about the group’s potential retaliation.

The case is under active investigation by Khlong Tan Police, who are working to identify and apprehend the attackers. Forensic evidence and witness testimonies are being gathered, and police believe the suspects are known within local circles.
