Bangkok residents suffer with more bad air quality

The TMD predicts that until Friday, stagnant air will linger over the urban region, allowing PM2.5 haze to build up (March 10).

According to the agency, southeasterly winds up to 25 km/hr will blow in on Saturday and Sunday, improving air circulation and lowering PM2.5 concentrations.

On Saturday, winds will clear Bangkok’s PM2.5 dust cloud.

The city’s 70 air quality monitoring stations recorded PM2.5 readings on Thursday morning that ranged from 56 to 96 micrograms per cubic meter (mcg).

Although long-term exposure is associated to chronic ailments like lung and heart difficulties, any amount above 50mcg is regarded as dangerous.

On Saturday, winds will clear Bangkok’s PM2.5 dust cloud.

Residents have been urged by city officials to stay indoors and refrain from outside activities. After going outside, anyone who experience breathing problems, eye inflammation, chest pain, or headaches should consult a doctor.
