Bangkok Transwoman Caught on CCTV Stealing Parcels; Family Blames Mental Illness

BANGKOK – A Thai transwoman has been caught on CCTV stealing parcels from her neighbours at a condominium in the Thong Lo area, prompting outrage on social media and raising concerns over how the case was handled by authorities.

The thefts came to light after residents of the condominium began sharing their experiences online, accusing local police of failing to resolve the issue effectively. Victims say they received little assistance from officers believed to be from Makkasan Police Station.

One of the victims, identified only as Kevin, posted on Facebook that he had ordered goods worth nearly 5,000 baht, which were confirmed delivered to his building—but the package vanished. Suspicious, he requested access to security footage from the condominium’s management and discovered that a transgender resident had taken his parcel.

Kevin said he asked building management to retrieve the item, but they were unsuccessful, leading him to involve the police. He later posted a video showing him, along with police officers and management staff, confronting the suspect at her unit. In the video, the woman aggressively denied any wrongdoing and threatened to sue Kevin for trespassing.

In response to the growing public attention, the suspect’s family claimed she suffers from mental health issues and promised to compensate those affected by the thefts.

The incident has sparked debate online, with many calling for better enforcement of building security and more effective police action in similar cases.
