Ramkhamhaeng Station on the Airport Rail Link has been reopened to passengers after a brief closure due to a minor fire near one of the entry escalators early Monday morning.
The operator of the airport train has confirmed that normal services have resumed at Ramkhamhaeng Station.
The fire broke out around 4.30 am in a shop situated next to the escalator, leading to the temporary closure of the station for passenger safety. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished.
Although train services continued without interruption, trains did not make stops at Ramkhamhaeng Station, with commuters advised to use Makkasan or Hua Mak stations instead.
According to traffic radio Jor Sor 100, the fire originated on the ground floor of a building approximately four meters from the escalator. Station officials promptly cut off power, and firefighters swiftly extinguished the blaze within about 20 minutes.
There were no reported injuries, and the station itself did not sustain any damage. However, the escalator affected by the fire remains closed as a precautionary measure, as stated by Jor Sor 100.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
