Canadian man accused of murder to a Indian-Canadian mobster in Phuket

Police announced today (May 29) that they had accused a Canadian man they called a mercenary of killing a Canadian-Indian mobster on the tourist island of Phuket.

When Jimi “Slice” Sandhu was shot and died in February 2022, police opened an inquiry. His moniker was derived from a recognizable scar on his face. Deported Indian-Canadian who went by the name Mr. Mandeep Singh and was traveling on a Canadian passport.

The United Nations gang, of which Sandhu was a member, was engaged in a deadly conflict with the Wolfpack Alliance at the time of his passing. Drug trafficking was a major activity for both groups’ members.

In relation to the murder, Interpol issued a red alert for Matthew Leandre Ovide Dupre, a Canadian.

After being extradited from Canada, the 38-year-old arrived back in Thailand late on Sunday.

He is a well-known suspect and a skilled mercenary. According to National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas, he flew in to complete his mission and didn’t even pack a weapon.

In a police statement, it was stated that Dupre had been charged with premeditated murder, unlawful gun possession, and discharging a gun.

Dupre, according to the authorities, disputes every accusation.

Dupre, according to Pol. Gen. Damrongsak, was a former soldier and mercenary who had worked in a number of nations, including Afghanistan.

Pol. Gen. Damrongsak said that he had flown directly from Canada to Bangkok on a special Thai Air Force flight.

It’s a complicated situation because no commercial planes or nations permitted the jet to refuel due to hostage-taking fears, he said.

The source of the weapon is still under investigation by the police.

An agreement for reciprocal assistance in criminal matters, including extradition, exists between Canada and Thailand.

According to a new extradition statute, Thai state prosecutor Intranee Sumawong claimed that the foreign office had allayed Canadian reservations about Thailand’s use of the death sentence.

On February 4, 2022, Sandhu was shot after arriving on a private plane from Malaysia a few days earlier.

Police were able to collect CCTV evidence that showed two guys leaping from bushes, firing on Sandhu, and then running away into the darkness.

The 2022 Interpol notification stated that a GPS tracker had been taped to Sandhu’s car prior to the attack.

After being expelled from Canada in 2016 for a number of criminal offenses, Sandhu resurfaced in 2018 when he was arrested in India for a ketamine manufacturing.

According to Canadian media, Gene Karl Lahrkamp, a second individual who was wanted in connection with the crime, passed away in a tiny plane crash in 2022.

Prior to his transportation from a detention cell to Bangkok Remand Prison, Dupre was strongly guarded by Crime Suppression police assisted by Hanuman SWAT (special weapons and tactics) squad.
