Central Department Store, a division of the publicly listed Central Retail, has partnered with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) to launch “Central Dolce Italia,” an event dedicated to showcasing Italian brands in Thailand.
The festival features 72 carefully selected brands, presenting a range of products including fashion, apparel, footwear, bags, accessories, cosmetics, fragrances, and exclusive home décor.
Paola Guida, Italian Trade Commissioner at the ITA Bangkok office, emphasized the agency’s commitment to raising awareness among Thai consumers about the quality, creativity, and distinctiveness of Italian products. She stated that this collaboration underscores ITA’s focus on promoting Italian goods in Thailand.
Last year, bilateral trade between Italy and Thailand surpassed US$5 billion, with Thailand serving as a key luxury market in Southeast Asia for Italian imports. Mrs. Guida highlighted growth potential in the food and wine, luxury goods, and hospitality sectors, despite a decrease in Chinese visitors. She also noted an increasing trend of Thai tourists traveling to Italy, especially high-spending travelers seeking premium Italian products.
Tapida Norpanlob, Omni-channel Merchandising Director at Central Department Store, mentioned that this is the third consecutive year hosting the event. She explained that the festival aligns with the company’s vision to establish itself as a global fashion destination. The event aims to enhance Thailand’s reputation as an international shopping hub by offering innovative shopping experiences that combine art, culture, and innovation.
“In 2024, our Italian brand portfolio grew by 79% after adding renowned luxury labels such as Miu Miu, Gucci, Bulgari, Prada, and Fendi to better meet customer preferences,” Ms. Tapida stated. She expressed confidence that Central Dolce Italia will provide Thai customers with a taste of Italy’s charm and leave a lasting impression.
The event will take place at three major locations across Thailand, beginning at Central Chidlom in Bangkok from September 3-30, followed by Dolce Italia at Central Chiangmai from October 10-16, and concluding at Central Phuket from October 24-31.
