In barely over four years, Airbus has received 100 A330neo orders.
Airbus has delivered its 100th A330neo, which was delivered to German carrier Condor. D-ANRJ debuted in Condor’s eye-catching ‘Condor Beach’ livery yesterday and flew its first revenue flight.
Airbus celebrates the 100th anniversary of the A330neo.
Following the arrival of D-ANRJ at Condor, the European planemaker has now delivered 100 A330neos, more than four years after delivering its first. Given the disruption created by the COVID pandemic, it is an outstanding feat for Airbus, albeit aircraft deliveries have gotten off to a difficult start in 2023, with Boeing overtaking Airbus in quarterly deliveries for the first time since 2018.
D-ANRJ landed at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on April 7th after a 90-minute trip from Airbus’ Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS).
Condor’s latest Airbus A330-900, which is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, took to the skies on March 16th. It has a capacity of 310 passengers, with 30 in business, 64 in premium economy, and 216 in economy. The plane had its first revenue flight since arriving at Condor on April 12th, with a ten-hour, 38-minute flight from Frankfurt to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius. The Maldives, Punta Cana, Varadero, New York-JFK, and Cancn are also served by the carrier’s next-generation widebodies.
Condor has now received five Airbus A330neos in less than four months, with the first arriving on December 20th, 2022 – the carrier will take delivery of another 11 aircraft as part of an order for 16, hastening the retirement of its older Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767 fleet.
A330 Day
Airbus commemorated ‘A330 Day’ on March 30th, not losing an occasion to demonstrate its pleasure in the flexible widebody. Since its beginning, the A330 program has had over 1,750 orders; according to Airbus’ orderbook, the A330-900 has received 290 orders, with the manufacturer completing 90 deliveries by the end of March.
According to the manufacturer, there are 22 operators of the A330neo-family, which comprises the -900 and the smaller -800 variants, operating over 200 routes and destinations worldwide. Following the arrival of the first A330neo in December 2018 for launch client TAP Air Portugal, additional carriers flying the widebody include Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Lion Air, and Corsair International.
