California’s San Francisco is being connected to by the national carrier of Mongolia.
Do the United States of America and Mongolia have direct flights? Yes. Two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are being purchased by MIAT Mongolian Airlines, and sources indicate that the company wants to link to a Californian airport.

The 5,025 NM (9,306 km) distance between Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar airport (UBN) and San Francisco International airport (SFO) may easily be covered by a nonstop flight using the 787-9 version, which has a range of 7,565 NM (14,010 km) (SFO).
Air Leasing Corporation provided the air lease for the aircraft in 2019. MIAT Mongolian Airlines’ President and CEO, Battur Davaakhuu, stated the following in a statement on October 3, 2019:
“With the addition of the first 787-9 Dreamliner to our fleet, we are taking a big step toward realizing our aim of becoming the Mongolian national flag carrier on a global scale.
Our passengers will travel direct and in unrivaled comfort on the Mongolian Dreamliner to their ideal locations. For MIAT and all Mongolians, today is a proud day.” Codesharing will link the Mongolian diaspora.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines seeks to use codeshares to get links to US airports, said Ishrion Aviation. Turkish Airlines and MIAT Mongolian Airlines have already established codesharing arrangements. Apart for Denver, Turkish flies to most of the locations listed below using Boeing 787s.
Another worth mentioning is the presence of the Mongolian embassy in San Francisco, California. The San Francisco Examiner estimates that there are between 5,000 and 10,000 Mongolians living in California, where there is a sizable Mongolian diaspora.
The desire of the national airline of Mongolia in a direct trip from San Francisco to the capital city of Mongolia stems in part from this.
In addition, a significant portion of the Mongolian population in California immigrated there as college students hoping to enroll in some of the state’s prestigious universities, like Stanford and the University of California.
