Thailand’s exports are projected to grow by 4% this year, an increase from the previously estimated 2% growth, with a further rise expected of 1% to 3% in 2025, according to a report from the Thai National Shippers’ Council on Tuesday.
As a crucial contributor to the economy, exports surged by 14.6% in October compared to the same month last year and saw a year-to-date increase of 4.9% for the first ten months of 2024.
Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan announced on Monday that Thai border and cross-border trade grew by 6.18%, totaling 1.51 trillion baht in the first ten months of this year.
In addition, the Commerce Ministry reported on Tuesday that Thai rice exports reached 9.27 million metric tonnes in the first 11 months of 2024, reflecting a 16.6% increase from the previous year.
As the world’s second-largest rice exporter after India, Thailand may experience a decline in rice shipments in 2025 following India’s resumption of rice exports, as noted by the ministry.
