Government offices will resume operations on Monday, July 31, the first day after the holiday break, although they will then close again for the next two days to mark Asarnha Bucha and Khao Phansa.
Those who prefer to take advantage of the prolonged respite provided by this year’s public holidays can do so. Utilizing this special circumstance, the national Public Relations Department suggests that people take an extra day off on July 31. Without significantly altering the typical work week, a full six-day break might be taken.
A nationwide prohibition on alcohol sales will be in effect from 12:01am on August 1 through 11:59pm on August 2, respectfully acknowledging Asarnha Bucha and Khao Phansa as significant religious holidays. The prohibition won’t affect duty-free shops at international airports, though.
The Bank of Thailand has made the rare decision to not proclaim this year’s Khao Pansa a bank holiday, realizing the potential effects of the prolonged vacation season.
