The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to implement a flat rate of 15 baht per trip for passengers using the Green Line’s second extension starting on January 2. This fare will apply to the Bearing-Samut Prakan and Mo Chit-Saphan Mai-Khu Khot sections.
The other relevant authorities, including the MRTA, the Department of Rail Transport, and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), have no objections to this fare. The entire Green Line fare will be capped at 62 baht per trip. It is estimated that the BMA will collect an additional 3-4 million baht based on the daily usage by around 250,000 passengers.
Additionally, the Pink Line, operated by BTSC, will also start charging fares on January 3, connecting Khae Rai in Nonthaburi to Min Buri district in East Bangkok. The Department of Rail Transport has agreed to waive the entry fee for passengers transferring from any of the MRT’s electric rail systems and has requested the BMA to upgrade their infrastructure to accommodate EMV contactless payment.
