The Meteorological Department anticipates that summer will commence late this month and envisions extreme heat in March and April, with temperatures potentially reaching 43-45°C in select provinces.
According to the department, temperatures in the upper part of the country are expected to rise this week, excluding the mountaintops in the upper North and Northeast. Heat accumulation is anticipated in the lower North, the Northeast, the Central Plain, including Greater Bangkok, and the East, signaling the official commencement of summer later this month.
The highest daily temperatures, expected around 4 pm this week, are projected to range from 35-38°C, with relief only on rainy days.
The department further indicated that this summer is poised to be hot, with several areas experiencing extreme heat. In particular, it is foreseen that the highest temperatures could reach 43-45°C in certain provinces.
The expected extreme heat levels would be 1-2°C higher than last year, with the period of extreme heat likely occurring in March and April.
