Fatal Crash on Bangkok Expressway: Woman Killed, Passenger Injured in High-Speed Collision
BANGKOK – April 6, 2025 — A tragic accident occurred early this morning on the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway in Bangkok’s Klong Toei district, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old woman and serious injuries to a male passenger after their car slammed into the rear of a stationary six-wheel truck.
Responding to the scene were officers from Expressway Police Station 1, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Phakamart Kamonsan, along with medical and rescue teams. The collision involved a white Isuzu six-wheel truck (license plate 54-3028 Bangkok) equipped with a crane, which was parked in the far-right lane for road maintenance.
The second vehicle, a grey Chevrolet (license plate 3กฒ 7757 Bangkok), was found with its front end destroyed, windshield shattered, and roof torn open from the force of the impact. Inside the wreckage, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Chatsamanoth, the female driver. She had sustained a fractured skull, chest trauma, and a broken arm. Her male passenger was seriously injured and was rushed to Theptarin Hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the truck crew, they had been conducting joint repairs on the expressway since 10:00 p.m. and had properly marked their work zone with orange cones and warning lights. At around 12:30 a.m., just as they were finishing up and removing equipment, they witnessed the Chevrolet approach at high speed without braking, colliding violently with the truck.
Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident and are waiting for the injured passenger to recover for further questioning.
In a similar traffic incident on March 31 in Buriram province, a 22-wheel truck carrying stones suffered a brake failure and crashed into seven vehicles waiting at a red light. Several people were injured, but the driver said he swerved deliberately to reduce the impact and avoid a more catastrophic outcome. Emergency services responded swiftly to that scene as well.
