German Man Accused of Assaulting Dentists Found Dead in Nakhon Ratchasima

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand – A 41-year-old German man, recently arrested for attacking female dentists at local clinics, was found dead with his throat slashed inside his home in Non Sung district on Friday night.

Shocking Discovery

Authorities were alerted to the scene, where they found the deceased, identified as Matthias Ebner, lying on a bed with two deep neck wounds and a knife wound on his left hand. A 25 cm-long knife was discovered under his body, and bloodstains covered the bed.

Two Rottweiler dogs were guarding the corpse, preventing immediate access. Police directed a maid to remove them before investigating further.

Wife Raised Alarm After Losing Contact

Ebner’s Thai wife, working in Prachin Buri, had tried unsuccessfully to contact him. Concerned, she reached out to Anan Chanamklang, the head of Don Chomphu village, and requested a foreign friend living in downtown Nakhon Ratchasima to check on her husband.

Accompanied by another friend and Ms. Anan, they entered the property and called out to Ebner, but received no response. Peering through a window, they saw his lifeless body and immediately notified police.

No Signs of Struggle, Possible Suicide

According to Pol. Col. Sitthiphon Thimsungnoen, chief of the Non Sung police station, there were no signs of a struggle or forced entry. Forensic officers found Ebner’s fingerprints on the knife, supporting the theory of self-inflicted injuries.

Authorities suspect mental illness and stress may have driven Ebner to take his own life. His wife previously stated that he suffered from a mental condition but had stopped taking medication.

His body was transported to Non Sung Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.

Ebner’s Recent Arrest for Assaults on Dentists

Ebner was arrested on March 18 in a shopping mall parking lot in Nakhon Ratchasima. Since November 2024, he had allegedly assaulted female dentists and vandalized multiple clinics in Muang district.

Despite police opposing bail, the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Court granted his release, allowing him to return home.

Before his death, authorities were preparing to request the Immigration Bureau to revoke his visa, deeming him a dangerous individual with violent tendencies.
