WorkVenture recently unveiled its “Top 50 Companies in Thailand 2024” list, with Google retaining its position as the most desirable employer for the sixth consecutive year. The survey conducted by WorkVenture highlighted that the new generation of workers in Thailand highly values employer brand image, work flexibility, and direct access to management.

Large Thai organizations are increasingly prioritizing the creation of a work environment that appeals to the preferences and needs of the younger workforce. This includes offering flexible work hours and enhanced employee well-being programs. Companies like Google, LINE, and SCG have emerged as top choices for new workers in Thailand due to their focus on employee care, work flexibility, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The survey encompassed over 11,452 young professionals aged 22 to 35, holding at least a bachelor’s degree, from Bangkok and surrounding areas. It provides a comprehensive insight into the Thai labor market in 2024. The results indicate a significant preference for large Thai companies among the workforce. These companies have effectively adapted to the evolving workplace dynamics and Thai working culture, making them preferred employers over their foreign counterparts.

This year’s survey results revealed a divergence in respondents’ opinions compared to the previous year, mainly due to the impact of COVID-19. The pandemic has caused significant changes in work lifestyles, leading young professionals to prioritize factors that support a good quality of life and stability. Consequently, the key concern for the younger generation is the “employer brand image,” emphasizing the importance of strong and stable companies that provide a good life for their employees.

Google, a global technology company, has maintained its position as the top choice for Thai millennials for five consecutive years. Despite high competition in the Thai job market, young professionals are still drawn to Google due to its reputation for a fun and flexible work environment, opportunities to collaborate with colleagues worldwide, rapid personal development, and various benefits such as international travel, diverse courses, and interaction with top-level executives from the United States.

Flexible work arrangements, including working in the office for only 1-2 days, are widely favored by the younger workforce. Conversely, companies mandating daily in-office work or remote work are perceived as less attractive and out of touch with current demands. The key considerations for job seekers continue to be compensation/salary, benefits, and work flexibility.

The top ten companies on the list include Google, PTT, SCG, Agoda, Unilever, LINE, Toyota Motor, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, Mitr Phol, and Bangchak. These companies are recognized for various reasons, such as providing substantial rewards, employee benefits tailored to younger generations, work-life balance, and opportunities for personal development.

The list also features highly sought-after companies like Apple, BJC Big C, and Kasikornbank, among others. These companies appeal to the younger generation through factors such as competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and opportunities for further education. Over the past year, organizations have not only prioritized taking care of their employees but have also focused on promoting their employer brand to stand out and communicate their work culture.

While the tech industry remains popular in Thailand, other companies are also integrating technology into their work and creating new cultures for IT employees. Interestingly, newly introduced companies in the Thai market, such as Tesla with its cutting-edge automotive technology and Netflix with its tech-savvy organizational culture, have gained significant attention and rapidly climbed the ranks this year.

In addition to seeking more than just a good salary, most young professionals prioritize benefits aligned with their personal needs, opportunities for learning and development, an inclusive culture, and sustainable environmental and social policies.
