Dhanarak Asset Development Co Ltd (DAD) is set to invest 449 million baht in a project aimed at transforming the rooftops and surrounding areas of carpark buildings near the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road into a public park, with the objective of expanding green spaces in the city.

Nalikatibhag Sangsnit, the managing director of DAD, outlined the company’s vision to introduce 40.9 rai (1 rai equals 1,600 square meters) of green zones through the establishment of five new public parks within the complex.

In the ongoing year, DAD, a governmental enterprise under the Ministry of Finance, has initiated tree planting activities that are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter. Over the following two years, these trees are projected to flourish, ultimately contributing to a greener environment at the government complex by 2026.

As part of the initiative, the first public park will be developed on the rooftop of Building D, a carpark spanning 2,789 square meters, focusing on the concept of urban farming. Additionally, the rooftop of Building A, another carpark, covering 5,872 square meters, will be transformed into a “Welcoming Garden” featuring an activity zone.

Moreover, the area between Building D and A on the second floor is designated for ornamental plants and trees. An overhaul, incorporating trees, is planned for the 205-meter skywalk connecting Building D’s first floor and the Government Complex Pink Line monorail station.

Further expanding the green spaces, a new 5.7 rai public park near the Erawan Shrine intersection is on the agenda, designed for public recreation and events such as Loy Krathong festivities and garden food truck events, aligning with the concept of a “Healthy City”.

DAD also intends to enhance the streetscape from Soi Chaeng Wattana 7 to the Ratthaprasasanabhakti Building by planting over 1,200 trees along the road to combat air pollution, aiming to elevate Chaeng Wattana Road as a prominent city landmark.

Additionally, a 12.65 rai public park will be established in front of the Ratthaprasasanabhakti Building, which will be connected to the Erawan Shrine. Finally, a 5.1 rai green zone will bridge Building B and C, featuring an underpass for pedestrian safety and landscape enhancement within the complex.
