Heat surge to record-breaking 45.8 degrees Celsius

The Thai Meteorological Agency predicts that on Wednesday, Thailand’s heat index, which measures both temperature and humidity, will surge to a record-breaking 45.8 degrees Celsius (114.44 degrees Fahrenheit) (TMD).

According to the department, each region’s hottest spots will be as follows:

North: Tak Province, 41°C heat index

Si Sa Ket, 38.4C in the northeast

Bang Na neighborhood of Bangkok, 45.5C

Chonburi, 45.8C; East

Phang Nga, 43.3C in the south.

The heat index, often called “felt air temperature,” combines air temperature and humidity to determine how hot it truly feels on a person’s skin.

Anyone working outdoors for long periods of time may get heat exhaustion, which causes nausea, headaches, muscle aches, and dizziness. This condition is signaled by a heat index between 32 and 41 °C.

A “warning” level is triggered by a heat index between 41 and 54 degrees Celsius because heatstroke, which has more severe symptoms than heat exhaustion, might affect persons working outside. The TMD forecast foggy conditions and hot to extremely hot temperatures on Wednesday due to a heat low sweeping upper Thailand.

Meanwhile, the lower Northeast and the East may experience scattered thundershowers and strong winds due to southerly and southeasterly winds, it was said.

The general populace was urged to take care of their health and use caution in hot and dangerous weather.

A moderate high-pressure system from China will pass through upper Thailand from Thursday through Sunday, according to the TMD, bringing summer storms, thunderstorms, gusty winds, sporadic hail, and lightning strikes to the lower Northeast and East.
