Honda has become the first Japanese carmaker to manufacture a fully electric vehicle (EV) in Thailand. The first e:N1 unit was produced in Honda’s factory in Prachinburi.

Market launch details for the Honda e:N1 will be announced in the first quarter of next year. The production of the electric SUV in Thailand showcases Honda’s confidence in the country’s automotive industry and aims to strengthen the industry by utilizing local parts and employing local workers.

The Thai government welcomed this announcement, as it aligns with its national strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy security. According to the Ministry of Energy, Thailand aims to have 1.2 million EVs on the road by 2036, accounting for 30% of total car sales.
