Honda Bangkok one

Honda has become the first Japanese carmaker to manufacture a fully electric vehicle (EV) in Thailand. The first e:N1 unit was produced in Honda’s factory in Prachinburi.

Honda’s move to manufacture a fully electric vehicle in Thailand reinforces confidence in the country’s automotive industry. The Honda e:N1 provides Thai car buyers with an additional option in the electric vehicle market, alongside internal combustion engine and hybrid vehicles.

By aiming to produce at least 2 million battery electric vehicles worldwide by 2030, Honda’s production of the e:N1 demonstrates their commitment to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles. Market launch details for the Honda e:N1 will be announced in the first quarter of next year. The production of the electric SUV in Thailand showcases Honda’s confidence in the country’s automotive industry and aims to strengthen the industry by utilizing local parts and employing local workers.

Honda plans to produce at least 2 million battery electric vehicles (BEVs) worldwide by 2030. The e:N1 is described as similar to Honda’s HR-V but without an engine and is expected to have a price tag of over 1.5 million baht.

The launch of the Honda e:N1 marks an important milestone for Honda and highlights their dedication to the Thai market and the automotive industry, both in terms of manufacturing and sourcing components locally.

The Thai government welcomed this announcement, as it aligns with its national strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy security. The government has provided various incentives for EV manufacturers and consumers, including tax breaks, low-interest loans, and subsidies. According to the Ministry of Energy, Thailand aims to have 1.2 million EVs on the road by 2036, accounting for 30% of total car sales.
