In Phetchabun, footprints thought to be those of a herbivorous dinosaur were discovered.

The Nam Nao district of Thailand’s northern province of Phetchabun discovered last month fossilized footprints of what is thought to be a plant-eating dinosaur in the rock bed of a dry creek in a forest.

The two rows of footprints, which are all the same size, clearly depict the footprints of an ancient animal, according to the Region 1 Geological Office of the Department of Mineral Resources. Dr. Jean Le Loeuff, a French palaeontologist at the Musée des Dinosaures, Espéraza in France, later corroborated this claim.

According to Kamonlak Wongko, a department geologist, the creek dries up during the dry season, exposing its granite bed and the hoofprints of extinct animals that roamed the region millions of years ago.

According to her, an investigation of the age of the rock bed samples revealed that the footprints, which were discovered during a geological exploration last month, resemble those of a plant-eating Sauropod.

She added that if future research can prove that the footprints belonged to a Sauropod, it would mark the first time a dinosaur of that kind has been discovered to have lived in this region more than 200 million years ago.
