K-Mile Asia (8K, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is expanding into widebody freighter operations with the acquisition of the first of two B767-300ER(BFC) aircraft, which it anticipates receiving this year. The first aircraft, HS-KSA (msn 33421), was photographed in K-Mile livery earlier this month in Guangzhou.

According to Cargo Facts, SF Airlines (O3, Shenzhen) has leased this aircraft to K-Mile and will also provide the second unit. As per ch-aviation fleet data, the Chinese cargo airline operates 23 B767s within a larger fleet comprising 87 aircraft. K-Mile, primarily flying for DHL Express, aims to put HS-KSA into revenue service by the end of October, making it the only active widebody freighter in the Thai aircraft registry.

The managing director of K-Mile indicated to ch-aviation that the technical acceptance process for the first B767 is currently in progress, and the second B767 is expected to be delivered next month. However, he refrained from providing additional commercial details due to confidentiality.

Until now, K-Mile has focused on narrowbody operations, with a fleet that comprises five aircraft: one B737-400(BDSF), two B737-400(SF)s, and two B737-800(BCF)s. In 2022, Sasunee mentioned to ch-aviation that he typically does not pursue new aircraft acquisitions unless a customer is secured. He also noted that the airline would only consider non-B737 aircraft if a customer specifically requests it, highlighting the need to obtain approvals, certify the aircraft, and train the crews accordingly.
