Luxury Necklace at Center of Thai Celebrity Scandal Resurfaces
BANGKOK, Thailand – A high-profile scandal involving Thai actress Arisara “Dew” Thongborisut and a missing luxury necklace valued at over 26 million baht ($784,000) has taken social media by storm, drawing political figures into the controversy.
Entrepreneur Wasana “May” Inthasang, owner of a beauty and supplements business, has accused Arisara of misusing and reselling her luxury items, which total 62 million baht. Among these items is a rare Lotus Arts De Vivre Zambian Emerald & Diamond necklace, which was allegedly passed on to a high-ranking official identified only as “Minister P.”

Ministers Deny Involvement
On March 20, four cabinet ministers whose names begin with “P” publicly denied any connection to the necklace:
- Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Phirapan Salirathavibhaga
- Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira
- Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan
- Labor Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn
Lavish Lifestyle and Financial Decline
Arisara, once known for flaunting her extravagant lifestyle on Instagram, is now facing severe financial difficulties. She was previously in a relationship with politician Pai Lik, Secretary-General of the Kla Tham Party, who was quick to distance himself from the scandal. Pai revealed that he had previously warned Arisara about her excessive spending habits.
During a candid interview on the Riding the Wave show on March 19, Arisara admitted that all her business ventures had failed, leaving her in financial ruin. She acknowledged that she had set a poor example for society by living beyond her means.
A Wake-Up Call for Digital-Age Values
The dramatic fall of the actress has sparked national discussions about financial responsibility and the influence of social media. The Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health, has even released parenting guidelines on raising children in the digital era. These guidelines emphasize:
- Educating children about the realities of social media
- Encouraging mindful consumption of online content
- Promoting self-worth beyond material possessions
As the scandal continues to unfold, it serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of unchecked extravagance in the digital age.
