Mother and Son Critically Injured in Midnight Motorcycle Crash in Pattaya
PATTAYA – May 8, 2025 — A late-night motorcycle accident has left a 34-year-old woman and her young son in critical condition after their vehicle collided with a roadside electric pole on Soi Boon Kanjanaram 8.
The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center responded to an emergency call just after midnight, finding Ms. Chotirot Prakothan, the motorcycle driver, severely injured with a fractured skull and a broken left leg. Her son, who was riding pillion, was found unconscious with a serious head injury. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Eyewitness Mr. Piyaphon Kopatthakit, 32, reported that the crash occurred when Ms. Chotirot’s motorcycle lost traction after skidding on loose sand, causing it to veer off and strike a utility pole. The Yamaha Grand Filano they were riding was found badly mangled, with its front end destroyed by the impact.
Responding officer Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkhamhan from the Pattaya City Police (Dongtan Curve Substation) led the investigation, collecting evidence and arranging for a CCTV review of the area to determine the precise cause of the accident.
