Male government workers allow taking paternity leave with full pay

According to an edict issued on May 23 by Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam in his capacity as the executive chief of government officials, Thai government officials now have the right to take 15 consecutive working days of paid paternity leave to care for their wives after childbirth.

The rights of government employees have been changed, and those who take 30 consecutive days off to assist their wives after childbirth will only be eligible for 15 days of compensation.

The only exception is if a director-general or equivalent decides they should be paid for up to 15 days of their absence from work after taking more than 30 consecutive days of leave.

Within 90 days of their wife giving birth, employees who want to take paternity leave must request authorization from their supervisors.
