Man attacks wife and relatives with knife in Kalasin, Thailand

A violent knife attack in Hua Tum village, Kalasin province, left four people injured on the night of February 16, prompting a police manhunt for the suspect, 38-year-old Prasit. The attack took place at a family home following a heated altercation between Prasit and his wife, 44-year-old Nantida.

Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 9:30 p.m. Officers from Mueang Kalasin Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Pimpchanok Inthasan and Police Colonel Weera Hangnak, arrived at the scene along with rescue teams and local officials. They found four injured victims in need of urgent medical attention.

Nantida suffered a severe stab wound near her left breast, while her 67-year-old father, Jaroen, sustained injuries to his neck and face. Her 17-year-old nephew, Ratthasart, received a cut to his left ear, and 38-year-old Kanchana was wounded on the head. Rescue workers provided first aid before transporting them to Kalasin Hospital.

A witness, 45-year-old Wiansin, reported hearing a loud argument before seeing Prasit wielding a knife and attacking Nantida and her relatives. The community, previously unaccustomed to such violence, expressed deep concern, particularly over Prasit’s alleged drug use and potential for further aggression.

According to Nantida’s mother, Boonmee, Nantida had recently returned from Prasit’s home in Kaeng Khro district, Chaiyaphum province. Prasit followed her back, leading to the confrontation. Nantida, refusing to return to him due to past abuse, became the target of his violent outburst. Her relatives attempted to intervene but were unable to prevent the injuries.

Following the attack, Prasit stole a motorcycle and fled. Police have launched a thorough investigation, with nearby stations on high alert. Provincial Police Commander Police Major General Sirasan Yuensanguanchai has been informed of the case, and efforts to locate and arrest Prasit are ongoing.

As of the latest reports, Nantida is no longer in critical condition, while her relatives continue to receive treatment at Kalasin Hospital. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Prasit’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in his capture.
