Rama II Roadworks Set for Completion by Year-End
The Transport Ministry has announced that all construction projects along Rama II Road, also known as Highway 35, will be completed by the end of this year.
Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit provided an update on Monday, stating that the Rama III-Dao Khanong-Western Outer Ring Road expressway project, overseen by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat), is already 87% complete. The project is expected to be finished by November, with efforts underway to speed up construction to meet the year-end deadline.
Meanwhile, progress is also being made on the elevated Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo Intercity Motorway 82 (M82) project, which spans 25 kilometers. The section between Bang Khuntian and Ekkachai is nearly complete at 98%, while the Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo section is at 70% completion. While the construction is set to finish this year, the authorities are still in the process of selecting a private company to co-invest in the highway’s operational systems. The M82 is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
In response to air pollution concerns, the government is implementing measures to mitigate PM2.5 pollution in construction areas. A high-pressure misting system will be activated in areas where pollution levels exceed 50 micrograms per cubic meter.
Additionally, the Transport Minister announced the completion of improvements to Rural Highway 3004 in Pathum Thani. The previously congested 10.4-kilometer stretch now features two lanes in each direction, aimed at reducing travel times and improving road safety.
With these infrastructure projects nearing completion, the government aims to enhance transportation efficiency and safety for motorists traveling along Rama II Road and beyond.
