PetGeneX collaborates with NIA to inaugurate Thailand’s first pet stem cell bank, heralding a significant breakthrough in veterinary health innovation. This milestone marks Thailand’s entry into a new chapter of advanced pet healthcare, with PetGeneX working alongside the National Innovation Agency (NIA) and various partners under the “PetGeneX Future Health, Forever Love” initiative.

The project aims to improve pet healthcare standards through cutting-edge medical technology, responding to the increasing trend of pet ownership where owners are eager to prolong and enhance their animals’ lives and well-being.

PetGeneX specializes in collecting, preserving, and cultivating stem cells from pets’ own samples—including peripheral blood, adipose tissue, and umbilical cord blood—ensuring availability for future medical treatments.

Storing stem cells is seen as a long-term health investment, as they can be utilized throughout a pet’s lifetime. All procedures adhere to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 laboratory standards, with rigorous quality checks to maintain owner confidence.

Chaiyot Tanrattana, a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science and co-founder of PetGeneX, noted that Thailand’s pet industry is rapidly growing. Currently, about one in three Thai households owns a pet, with annual spending on pet healthcare reaching tens of thousands of baht, contributing to a market value exceeding 60–70 billion baht annually.

As pets tend to live longer, age-related and chronic diseases are becoming more prevalent, often requiring ongoing and costly treatments averaging between 15,000 to 30,000 baht per pet each year—sometimes reaching hundreds of thousands.

In response, innovative solutions like stem cell preservation are gaining popularity in Thailand, offering preventive and regenerative medical options that aim to improve quality of life, lessen disease severity, and reduce long-term treatment expenses.
