Pheu Thai takes the top spot in Thailand’s blockchain-powered poll.

A blockchain-powered opinion survey conducted just five weeks before the May 14 election easily surpassed Pheu Thai.

Sripatum University (SPU) and D-vote, an independent pollster that claims to be the first in Thailand to employ blockchain technology to process results in real time, conducted the poll from March 28 to April 10.

In the party-list ballot, 44.31% of the 1,922 samples aged 18 and up from across the country said they would vote for Pheu Thai. Move Ahead came in second with 21.54%, followed by United Thai Nation (9.56%), Palang Pracharath (4.04%), and Bhumjaithai (3.89%).

When asked who they would vote for to elect constituency MPs, respondents responded as follows:

Pheu Thai (42.89%).

17.29% Move Ahead

8.07% United Thai Nation

6.05 Bhumjaithai

5.31 for Democrats

The top three reasons given by respondents for their choices were: proficiency and vision (56.82%), philosophy (43.58), and past successes (35.71%).

When asked which topic the next government should prioritize, 44.87% responded rising living costs, followed by poverty and debt (33.47%), and economic recession (28.39%).

On May 14, Thai voters will employ the two-ballot system to elect 400 constituency MPs and 100 party-list MPs, clearing the path for a new government to be formed. Thailand will have advance voting on May 7.

SPU vice president Asst Prof Wirat Lertpaitoonpan said the university and D-vote aim to conduct more surveys after the election to gauge public sentiment regarding the incoming administration and whether parties are keeping their election campaign pledges.

SPU and D-vote earlier polled Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s work record following his landslide election victory in May last year.

According to the survey, 85.12% of Bangkok residents were pleased with the new governor’s performance during his first ten months in office.
