Residents in Tambon Mae Hia are opposing the plan to extend the operating hours of Chiang Mai International Airport. They claim that they have not been adequately compensated for the damages caused by airport operations over the past five years. Many residents complain about the noise and vibration from overhead traffic, but Airports of Thailand (AoT) has yet to address the issue.
AoT and airport officials have promised measures to address residents’ concerns, including compensation funds, hearing tests, noise sensors, and a showcase of local products. However, residents are still seeking clarification on accessing the compensation fund and request a new environmental impact assessment for the extended hours.
