The Public Health Ministry is holding an online public hearing on a new alcohol control draft, including a six-month grace period to lift the afternoon sales ban (2-5 pm). The temporary lift, aligned with the Alcohol Control Committee, allows alcohol sales from 11 am to midnight during this period, with a review after six months to decide on permanent changes.
The existing sale times (11 am–2 pm and 5 pm–midnight) remain, but exemptions are granted to international airports, licensed venues, and hotels. Provincial committees will evaluate the impact of lifting the ban and report findings.
The Ministry seeks public input on sales restrictions, evaluation processes, exemptions, and suggestions for the draft.
