Rama 2 works delayed by 5 months

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) has announced that the completion deadline for the construction of the Rama II elevated road in Samut Sakhon has been pushed back from June to November of next year.

Transport Permanent Secretary Chayatan Phromsorn explained that the postponement of the elevated Motorway 82 (M82) construction is due to technical challenges associated with building the ascending sections in the Bang Khunthian area.

This 4-kilometer elevated road section will connect the Bang Khunthian, Ekkachai, and Ban Phaeo regions, primarily serving as a diversion route for incidents or breakdowns on Rama II Road.

In another development, the Rama IX frontage bridge, which is part of a separate elevated roadway linking the Rama III motorway, Dao Khanong, and the Western Beltway, is expected to be completed by this New Year.

Mr. Chayatan mentioned that the frontage bridge is a cable-stayed structure spanning the Chao Phraya River and is anticipated to alleviate congestion on the Rama IX Bridge. It will open as soon as the ascending roads in the Suksawat area are finalized.
