Red smog levels in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan

On Sunday at noon, Bangkok experienced the highest level of PM2.5 air pollution in the country, with a concentration of 94.2 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³), according to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Gistda). This level exceeds the government-set safe limit of 37.5µg/m³, categorizing the air quality as hazardous to health. Nonthaburi followed closely behind with a PM2.5 level of 84.8µg/m³, while Samut Prakan recorded 77.8µg/m³.

In contrast, 14 southern provinces reported safe air quality, with 10 of them recording good PM2.5 levels between 13.5 and 14.6µg/m³. These provinces included Chumphon, Phatthalung, Trang, Phangnga, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Satun, Phuket, and Krabi. Additionally, Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla, and Yala had PM2.5 levels ranging from 15.1 to 21.9µg/m³, which also qualified as good air quality.

Across the country, 60 provinces experienced orange-level air pollution, meaning the levels were starting to affect health. These included Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Chon Buri, Khon Kaen, Lamphun, Loei, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nan, Nong Khai, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surin, Tak, and Udon Thani. However, no provinces had moderate air quality.
