Singer Tik Shiro Faces Charges for Fatal Crash

Police have filed multiple charges, including drunk driving, against singer and songwriter Manaswin “Tik Shiro” Nuntasane, following a tragic accident in Bangkok last Thursday. His van collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a woman and serious injuries to her brother.

According to Pol Col Naren Khrueangsanook, the chief of the Khan Na Yao police station, a blood test revealed that Mr. Manaswin’s blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit at the time of the crash.

The 63-year-old singer faces charges of drunk driving resulting in death and serious injury, reckless driving causing death and serious injury, and property damage.

Police plan to invite both the singer and the victims’ family for discussions regarding compensation and will forward the case to public prosecutors thereafter.

The incident occurred on a bridge over Sukhaphiban 5 Road in the Sai Mai district around 4 a.m. on October 10. Tik Shiro’s van struck a motorcyclist and his sister, who was riding as a pillion. The 21-year-old motorcyclist had temporarily parked the bike to help another sister who had dropped a water bottle.

The crash resulted in the immediate death of the 28-year-old pillion rider, while the motorcyclist was thrown off the bridge and fell approximately 10 meters to the ground below. The sister who had stepped off the motorcycle to retrieve the bottle survived the incident.

Tik Shiro, 63, remained at the scene to surrender and expressed deep remorse to the victim’s family, assuring them that he would take responsibility.

Police indicated that a breathalyser test was not performed at the crash site because the driver was experiencing chest pain and was unable to blow into the device. Instead, he was taken to the police station for a blood sample.

On Tuesday, the singer attended the cremation of the deceased victim at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
