SET-listed Singha Estate has sold 56 rai of industrial land in Ang Thong to a Taiwanese printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturer, potentially paving the way for further development of Thailand’s smart electronics industry.
The acquisition, made by Unitech PCB (Thailand), is expected to help Thailand position itself as a key manufacturer of electronic components, thereby supporting related sectors like data centers, according to Thitima Rungkwansiriroj, CEO of Singha Estate.
The land designated for Unitech PCB’s factory is situated in the S Industrial Estate Angthong, located in Chaiyo district, where the company plans to produce high-density interconnect boards, a specific type of PCB.
Mrs. Thitima made her remarks following the finalization of the land deal between S Industrial Estate Co, a subsidiary of Singha Estate, and Unitech PCB (Thailand).
“The investment will allow Unitech PCB (Thailand) to enhance its production capacity and create products that support S-curve industries,” she stated.
Thailand is actively promoting the growth of 12 targeted S-curve industries, including smart electronics and new-generation vehicles in the Eastern Economic Corridor, which encompasses parts of Chon Buri, Rayong, and Chachoengsao.
PCB manufacturing is on the rise in Thailand, aligned with the government’s initiatives to attract investments, particularly in the electric vehicle sector and its supply chain.
Geopolitical tensions are also prompting foreign firms to look to Southeast Asia for business expansion, including in Thailand.
Lawrence Chang, chairman of Unitech PCB (Thailand), explained that the choice of S Industrial Estate Angthong was driven by its prime location, not far from Bangkok, which facilitates efficient transportation and long-term cost effectiveness.
Spanning 1,790 rai, S Industrial Estate Angthong is positioned along a section of the Asia Highway in Ang Thong province.
“We are honored to invest in the S Industrial Estate Angthong to establish our first PCB manufacturing facility in Thailand, marking a significant milestone in our company’s growth,” said Mr. Chang.
