An elite team of soldiers who specialise in jungle navigation have been deployed to assist in the manhunt for the escaped prisoner Chaowalit Thongduang, who is believed to be hiding in the Banthad mountain range. He is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous.
Military personnel from Naresuan Camp in Phetchaburi province arrived on Saturday morning in Trang to support the effort to capture 37-year-old escapee, who also goes by the name Sia Paeng Nanod.
Initially, more than 30 officers from Trang provincial police were dispatched to the scene, but the challenges of dense jungle terrain and heavy rains has seen most of them drop out.
