During the visit to France from March 7 to 12, Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungruangkit engaged with members of the French aviation and logistics sectors in Paris, with the aim of attracting investments towards Thailand’s landbridge project and airport infrastructure.

As part of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s delegation, Suriya participated in a summit hosted by the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), where he met with Damien Cazé, who leads the Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGAC France). Discussions revolved around potential collaborations to enhance Thailand’s aviation industry, building upon the existing memorandum of understanding between DGAC France and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

Suriya also explored avenues to advance Thailand’s cybersecurity and aviation protocols in alignment with contemporary standards, focusing on emission reduction and the adoption of innovative aviation technologies. Subsequently, the minister engaged with representatives from air taxi company Volocopter and aircraft design firm SATYS.

Beyond aviation, Suriya utilized the opportunity to present Thailand’s prominent landbridge project to prominent figures in the logistics field, including French shipping conglomerate CMA CGM and engineering services company Artelia. The proposal generated interest from both entities, with requests for additional information.

Following the discussions, Suriya highlighted that the meetings not only facilitated the strengthening of bilateral relations but also paved the way for potential business collaborations and opportunities.
