Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 17-Year-Old Girl in Pathum Thani
PATHUM THANI — Police have apprehended a 25-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl, following an intense manhunt that ended in Kanchanaburi province.
The shooting occurred on a road in the Lam Sam Kaew subdistrict of Lam Luk Ka district, where the teenage victim was gunned down and later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. Authorities quickly gathered evidence and issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him with premeditated murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without a valid reason, and discharging a firearm in a public area.
In a bid to speed up the investigation, police offered a 50,000-baht reward for information leading to his capture. After days of searching, officers tracked the suspect to Tha Muang district in Kanchanaburi, where he was arrested on April 25.
The suspect has been brought back for questioning as police work to establish the motive behind the killing. Reports suggest that the incident may have stemmed from an earlier altercation at a barbecue restaurant.
The tragedy has drawn significant media attention, with heartbreaking accounts from the victim’s family. Her mother described the teenager as her “hope,” underscoring the profound loss felt by those close to her.
Police continue to investigate as legal proceedings against the suspect move forward.
