New TAT governor has been appointed

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has chosen Thapanee Kiatphaibool to take over as its new governor, effective September 1. The nominating subcommittee, which started the hiring process on February 20, issued a recommendation to the TAT board, which made the final decision.

Thapanee was picked by the subcommittee, which was led by Arrun Boonchai, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, unanimously.

The selection criteria put a heavy emphasis on marketing prowess, industry understanding, and administrative prowess. In order to ensure a peaceful transition, the new TAT governor expressed her gratitude for being elected and reassured travel industry professionals that she would uphold the strategies for promoting tourism established by her predecessor, Yuthasak Supasorn.

After being officially appointed, she intends to make public her proposal for collaborating with the commercial sector to create tourism promotion initiatives.

After earning her master’s in science at the University of Surrey in the UK, Thapanee joined the TAT and has been a member since then. She has held different positions within the company, and she is currently the deputy governor for domestic marketing.

The Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) certification program was launched as a result of Thapanee’s pivotal participation in the Covid-19 outbreak. During times of strong Covid-19 control measures, this program made it possible for hotels and businesses to comply with particular health and safety standards. Hotels wanting to register as quarantine facilities during these times were also required to comply with this requirement.
