TAT investigates ways to boost Thai tourism confidence.

After analyzing the effects of the Siam Paragon shopping mall shooting on the Thai tourism sector, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is developing a strategy to regain the trust of foreign visitors to Thailand.

In light of the incident, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool warned today (Wednesday) that it might take up to a week to obtain a better idea of how many foreign visitors cancel or delay their scheduled trips to Thailand.

She added that they will also launch a publicity campaign to improve the perception of the nation as a safe place for visitors on a short, mid, and long-term basis. The first action to be taken is to improve safety at all tourist destinations, including shopping malls and restaurants, so visitors can feel safe, she said.

In addition to expressing condolences to the relatives of the deceased and injured on behalf of the TAT and personnel, Thapanee stated that relevant agencies must ensure that the injured are appropriately cared for, both physically and mentally.
