Thai Airways Diverts London Flight to Brussels After Heathrow Closure

Thai Airways International (THAI) rerouted its London-bound flight to Brussels on Friday following a fire at Heathrow Airport, which led to a temporary shutdown.

Flight TG910, which departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12:44 a.m., was originally scheduled to land at Heathrow at 6:40 a.m. However, due to the incident, the aircraft was redirected to Brussels Airport, where it arrived at 6:57 a.m. local time (12:57 p.m. Thailand time), according to flight tracking websites Flightradar24 and FlightAware.

THAI has advised passengers traveling on the London route and its return leg on Friday and Saturday to check flight schedules on its social media channels for updates.

Flights that may be affected by Heathrow’s temporary closure include TG910, which is scheduled to depart Bangkok at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday. London-to-Bangkok flights impacted include TG911, set to depart at 11:50 a.m. local time, and TG917, scheduled for 9:35 p.m. on Friday.

The disruption occurred after a fire at an electrical substation near Heathrow caused a power outage, leading to the airport’s closure. “Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport and should contact their airline for further information. We apologise for the inconvenience,” Heathrow stated in a message on X.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific is reportedly considering canceling its flights from Hong Kong to Heathrow due to the blackout, according to the South China Morning Post.
