Thai Celebrity Couple Takes Legal Action Over Unauthorized Use in Breast Pump Ad
BANGKOK — Prominent Thai celebrity couple Piyawadee Maleenont and Mawin Taweepol have filed a formal complaint against a baby product brand for unauthorized use of their images in a breast pump advertisement, sparking controversy over misuse of celebrity likeness.
The couple arrived at Thong Lo Police Station on the afternoon of May 5 with their legal team, alleging that a well-known baby brand manipulated and distributed their photos—taken during a casual visit to a booth at the Baby & Kids Best Buy event—without their consent.
According to the complaint, the images were altered and used in promotional material offering discount coupons at the brand’s booth, and were shared across multiple online pages, including Mother Loves Child, Pregnancy Team, and Sutira Eua-Pairoj.
Mawin stated that the unauthorized use breached an existing endorsement agreement they have with another brand, potentially causing reputational and contractual harm. He emphasized that the images were initially taken for personal use only, and their promotional deployment was never approved.
The couple learned of the misuse on May 3, though evidence suggests the materials were circulated earlier.
Police are now investigating the company responsible, as the couple seeks accountability and possible legal damages for the violation.
