Thai Man Fined B10,000 for Dragging Dog Behind Motorcycle

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – April 10, 2025 — A 35-year-old man named Pannawit has been fined 10,000 baht for animal cruelty after a viral video showed him dragging his four-month-old dog behind a motorcycle in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima.

The Sikhiu Provincial Court initially imposed a 20,000 baht fine, which was reduced to 10,000 baht after Pannawit confessed to the abuse. No jail time was issued, and his surname was withheld in the public ruling.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, when Pannawit, after a quarrel with his boyfriend, tied the puppy to his bike and dragged it over 600 meters. The act was captured on video by concerned motorist Charuwan Phuangkham, who intervened and later shared the clip on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

The Watchdog Thailand Foundation filed a formal complaint with Pak Chong police, leading to swift legal action. In a statement, the organization shared the court’s decision and emphasized the need for stronger animal protection enforcement.

The dog was rescued and is reportedly receiving care, though its current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
