Thai State revenue totals 1.9 trillion baht in the first fiscal year

According to Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesman for the Finance Ministry, during the first nine months of the 2023 fiscal year, which began last October, the Finance Ministry collected roughly 1.95 trillion baht in total revenues, which is 136 billion baht more than the target.

Approximately 1.59 trillion baht have been collected by the Revenue Department, which is 11.1% more than the assessment and a 4% rise from the same period last fiscal year.

According to Pornchai, the majority of the income came from corporate and individual income tax collection as well as value-added tax. Other sources of income included profits from investment projects, the sale of government bonds, and mobile phone concessions.

The Customs Department has collected 97.5 billion baht, up 20.5% over the same time period in the previous fiscal year and 23.2% more than the assessment.

Revenues for the Excise Department decreased by 11.1% to 350 billion Baht from the same period the previous fiscal year, or 17.8% below assessment.

Revenues from state-owned businesses totaled 122 billion baht, up 5% from the same period in the previous fiscal year but 0.5% under assessment.

Other state agencies brought in 176 billion in revenue, which is a considerable rise of 59.7% over the same period in the previous fiscal year and 57.2% over assessment.

Pornchai claimed that the government reserves now total 1.95 trillion baht. However, over that same time, 2.56 trillion baht have been spent, and the government has obtained loans totaling 435 billion baht to make up for the gap in earnings.
