Thailand has launched the “Wellness Hub Thailand” initiative, a major public–private collaboration aimed at positioning the country among the world’s top five global wellness destinations.
The strategy responds to rising global demand for health-focused travel, shifting tourism from short-term relaxation to long-term investment in physical and mental wellbeing. It integrates Thailand’s core strengths, including natural landscapes, world-class cuisine, traditional medicine, hospitality, and advanced medical technology, into a comprehensive Wellness Ecosystem.
Led by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in partnership with BDMS Wellness Clinic and other stakeholders, the initiative promotes meaningful travel experiences that combine prevention-focused healthcare with relaxation and lifestyle improvement. Offerings range from Thai traditional therapies enhanced by medical technology, to wellness hotels designed around sleep science, and personalised “food as medicine” programmes based on genetic data.
According to the Global Wellness Institute, Thailand’s wellness economy grew 28.4% in 2022–2023, the fastest growth rate worldwide. Wellness tourism was the strongest segment, expanding 36.4% in 2023–2024, ranking third globally.
Officials say the initiative will raise spending per visitor, generate broader economic benefits, and strengthen Thailand’s position as a sustainable global health destination. By aligning tourism, healthcare, hospitality, and research under a unified framework, Thailand aims to evolve from a leisure destination into a wellness-led economy known as “The Land of Life.”
