The SET to implement short selling restrictions

The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is urging the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) to implement stricter pricing rules for short selling. This includes requiring brokers to disclose the names of investors who borrow stocks for short selling transactions and examining the SET’s naked short selling system.

The SEC is also considering reintroducing the “uptick” rule, which would require short sales to occur at a higher price than the stock’s last trading price if it is down 10% or more. The SEC is conducting regular reviews and working closely with stakeholders to address concerns about short selling and maintain market confidence.
