Three Arrested After German Tourist Assaulted in Pattaya
Pattaya – Police have arrested three men after a German tourist was brutally attacked by a group of assailants on Beach Road early Tuesday morning.
The assault, which was caught on video, involved around 10 men, some of whom appeared to be dressed as motorcycle taxi drivers, according to police. Authorities are still searching for the remaining suspects.
The victim, identified as David Lelonek, 40, was assisted by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Muang Pattaya rescue team after the attack was reported around 4 AM. Lelonek, speaking to police through an interpreter, said he had no idea why he was targeted. He managed to escape on a motorcycle and seek help.
Despite declining to press charges, police stated that legal action would still be pursued, as the incident had negatively impacted Pattaya’s image as a tourist destination.
Three suspects—Bandit, 26; Thawatchai, 25; and Pichitchai, 18—were arrested based on video evidence. Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining attackers.
