Traffic Disruptions in Bangkok as Liverpool Fan Parade Rolls Through City
BANGKOK – Authorities are urging commuters to plan ahead and seek alternative routes as traffic congestion grips several key areas in Bangkok due to a Liverpool supporters’ victory parade.
The event, held to celebrate Liverpool’s Premier League title, kicked off at 1 p.m. on Saturday from CentralWorld, winding its way past Victory Monument and Central Ladprao before concluding at Dan Neramit. The parade later looped back, affecting traffic flow along the route for several hours.
Despite the presence of former Liverpool star John Arne Riise and several well-known fans, the turnout was reportedly lower than expected. Nevertheless, red-clad supporters lined portions of the route to cheer and wave flags, creating a festive atmosphere in parts of the city.
Bangkok traffic police issued advisories earlier in the day, urging drivers to avoid affected roads and consider public transport or alternate routes to minimize delays.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans are also looking forward to the team’s final match of the season against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, set to kick off at 10 a.m. Thailand time on Sunday. The club will officially lift the Premier League trophy following the game.
