Transport Minister’s request to have the injunction withdrawn is denied by the Thai Charter Court

Saksayam Chidchob, the transport minister, filed a plea on April 11th asking the Constitutional Court to quash an injunction requiring him to stop serving as a minister as of March 3rd.

The court determined that Saksayam’s petition should be dismissed because no new information exists to support lifting the injunction.

According to opposition MPs, Saksayam is in violation of the Constitution’s Section 187 and the rules governing ministerial shareholdings since she owns a majority stake in the Buri Charoen Construction Limited Partnership. Through the House Speaker, they petitioned the Constitutional Court, pleading for the removal of his ministerial responsibilities from him.

The petition was granted, and the injunction was issued by the court.
